our story

Fred Beck began his auto glass journey in 1978. Shortly after, his brother Merle Beck joined the
team and they began Broco Auto Glass (Brothers & Company) which went on to become one of
the largest auto glass companies in BC at the time. After several years of learning the flat glass
industry the Beck brothers realized there was a need to help homeowners with the high cost of
glass. In 2000 they developed a service contract for home & business owners to purchase to protect
their most valuable assets. The first online portal with leading technology was introduced, and
Broco Glass Network was created. In 2012 Broco Auto Glass was sold to Belron and the flat glass
division started operating as Beck Glass & Shield. In 2014 FICOM & the Insurance Council
decided these glass contracts were apples to apples to an insurance product. Of the existing 43
companies offering glass contracts; Beck Glass was one of only two companies that took on the
responsibility to form an MGA. Beck Glass Shield became licensed with the insurance council
and partnered with Trisura as our underwriter, making us 100% compliant with BCFSA (previously
FICOM) and the Insurance Council of BC. Today, Beck Glass Shield is proud to be licensed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick providing Canadians with glass insurance.

Fred Beck

Founder & President

Fred has been in the glass industry for well over 40 years. He is known for outstanding customer service and is adept at working in a fast-paced environment. He has extensive experience in all things glass and glass insurance, and his company has been in charge of training hundreds of insurance brokers attached with some of the world’s leading insurance companies. He brings his wealth of experience and expertise to help grow Beck Glass Shield to become a world-class glass insurance company.

Alicia Pendrith

Director & Nominee CAIB, CRM

Alicia joined the general insurance industry in 2010, where she quickly realized it was her destined career path. Having achieved her Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation in 2015, and her Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation in 2018 she is now going to set her sights on the Canadian Insurance Professional courses. Alicia is a part of Beck family as she sits on our board of directors as well as serving as our nominee. Her focus is ensuring compliance with Insurance Council requirements.

Eva Michielutti

Chief Operating Officer CIP, CRM

Eva started her Canadian insurance career in 2001. Throughout the years she held various positions in the risk management / loss control field which lead to a national leadership role. Eva has joined Beck Glass Insurance in 2016 and assumed a role of VP of Insurance Operations in 2021. Her focus is strategic planning, commercial underwriting, and system management. Eva holds a Human Resource Management (BComm.) degree, she is a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and has her Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation by the Global Risk Management Institute.

Finola Gaughan

Manager of Insurance Operations

In 2017, Finola moved to Canada and decided to change career path entering the insurance industry. Finola joined the Beck Glass Shield team in 2019 and brought with her many years of customer service experience and a keen interest in the insurance field. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Level 1 licence and is working towards completing her Chartered Insurance Professional designation. She is now the Manager of Insurance Operations and is looking forward to continue to grow and learn within the Beck Glass Shield family.

Jessica Covarrubias

Insurance Advisor

Jessica joined the Beck Glass Shield team in 2023. Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree and a Level 1 license, and she brings with her years of customer care experience where she was able to find a balance between quality and satisfaction. As the initial contact for both clients and brokers, she offers personalized guidance making sure everyone is taken care of. In her role at the Beck Glass Shield family, she looks forward to assisting Insureds and Brokers with any kind of inquiries.

Amandeep Kaur

Insurance Advisor

Amy chose insurance as her career in 2021. She worked for a brokerage for two years before joining Beck Glass Shield in 2024. Amy is one of the first point of contacts in the Team where she consistently provides professional, customer-focused assistance to brokers and insureds. She currently carries a Level 1 license and is working towards higher-level certifications while growing with Beck Glass Shield.

Christian Basantes

Broker Success & Development Specialist

Christian started in Insurance in June 2013. He worked as a life insurace advisor for 10 years, helping people with their financial planning needs. Later, he decided to expand his knowledge to the General Insurance area and got his Level 1 license in January 2025. After getting experience from working in hospitality industry, administration, and media, he joined the Beck Glass Shield team in July 2025. Since then he has contributed with his experience and skills for improving and building relationships with our brokerage partners.

Scott is our c-suite executive for accounting, administration, financial oversight, and reporting. Scott is a professional accountant and creative executive with proven expertise in developing and growing private and public businesses for over 30 years. Possessing a solid reputation for communicating and collaborating well with diverse stakeholders to achieve desirable outcomes. He also leads implementation of automation, enterprise software, systems, and SOPs. Operational responsibilities include collaboration with the executive team on all corporate, insurance, legal, and other matters.
